Make Your Own Beach Tote

the perfect beach bag

We found this awesome beach tote made entirely from plastic bags! And who doesn’t have a ton of those?! Besides being a great conversation piece on the beach, this bag is completely waterproof and super durable. And sand falls right through the mesh! Click here for full instructions.

Ice Cream In A Bag

This is a fun, easy way to make your own ice cream and you don’t need an ice-cream maker! And when your done, ice-cream is in a convenient ziplock bag, so you can take your ice cream with you on summer trips! Submitted by Suzy Gardner.

You will need:

  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Half-n-Half
  • 1/4 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 Cup Rock Salt
  • Ice
  • 1 Pint Size Ziploc Bag
  • 1 Gallon Size Ziploc Bag

Instructions:
Combine the sugar, half-n-half, and vanilla in the pint size ziploc bag and seal tightly. Combine the ice and rock salt in the large ziploc bag. Place the small bag inside of the larger bag and seal. Shake the bag until the mixture turns into ice cream! This will take about 5 minutes. Add sprinkles, candy, nuts, or fruit and enjoy!

Happy Memorial Day

In true Rosie fashion, we would like to take a minute to remember what Memorial Day is all about and say thank you to all the brave men and women who are serving or have served their country.

Little known fact… Memorial day officially started in 1868, however there is evidence that organized women’s groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War. A hymn published in 1867, “Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping” by Nella L. Sweet carried the dedication “To The Ladies of the South who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead” (Source: Duke University’s Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920). Rosies Coveralls Survive The Shipyard

The coveralls survived the first week! They are the most perfect fit, and most comfortable work clothes I have ever worn. I was skeptical because of those reasons! I have been welding on my knees, overhead, and climbing up and down ladders. And the coveralls have proven tough enough for the job! Some of the stitching around the zipper pocket and the knee pad pockets have come loose, but that is the only damage that I see. Well, they are also stained and filthy with grinder oil, but that’s normal. You have just gotten a loyal customer! Do you all make thermal coveralls for winter time as well?
Thankyou,
Kerriann

Photography Class Takes On Rosies Website

Local photographer Deborah Denker and her students from Cal Poly shot the photos for Rosies website. “I had the students from the Food Photography class at the Brooks Institute shoot at a local restaurant and I wanted to do a similar project with my Cal Poly class using an art director as well” said Denker, who teaches ‘Advertising Photography’ at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. Denker contacted Whizbang Marketing Firm to see if they had any possible candidates and Whizbang suggested Rosies website.
“Frank Scotti at Whizbang did the art direction, plus the client was there and so was I, so the students got to hear directions from all three sides,” said Denker of the learning experience. “It was a great experience and the students really pulled it off well.”
